Beijing–Kowloon Railway records 1.77 billion trips over 30 years
About 1.77 billion passenger trips have been made on the Beijing–Kowloon Railway in the 30 years since its opening. China Railway Group reported this, ECNS writes. Traffic on the line was launched on September 1, 1996.
A route nearly 2,400 km long
The 2,397-km railway corridor connects Beijing with Shenzhen, from where there is a connection to Hong Kong via the Guangzhou–Kowloon line. The route starts at Beijing West Railway Station and passes through eight provincial-level administrative regions: Beijing, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Jiangxi, and Guangdong.

Services and speed
Zhao Peijun, a spokesperson for Beijing West Railway Station, said that the number of daily train arrivals and departures at the station had increased from 54 to 406. According to him, the route underwent five major upgrades to increase speed, and the maximum operating speed now reaches 160 km/h.
Hou Shaopu, a conductor with the Beijing–Shenzhen crew at the Beijing Passenger Depot, said that the route was adjusted in 2022: trains began running from Beijing West Railway Station to Shenzhen East Railway Station. Travel time was reduced from 49 hours to less than 30 hours.
