The Eiffel Tower will open its first free open-air movie theater
The Eiffel Tower in Paris will host the first-ever free open-air film festival, Cinéma Paradiso. The event will take place from September 24 to 27, 2026, on the first floor of the landmark.
The film screenings will take place in the Gustave Eiffel Hall, located 57 meters above ground. The space, with its panoramic glass walls, offers a view of Paris and will serve as a new venue for the festival, which has been organized by the mk2 cinema chain since 2013.
According to Elisha Karmitz, CEO of the mk2 group, hosting the festival at the Eiffel Tower is a symbolic event designed to offer Parisians a new way to experience one of the world’s most famous landmarks.
Patrick Branko Ruivo, CEO of SETE, the company that manages the Eiffel Tower, noted that the monument has long been associated with the world of cinema and has repeatedly inspired filmmakers.
The organizers announced that the festival program and list of invited guests will be released on September 8. Admission to all screenings will be free, but tickets will be distributed via a public lottery on the festival’s official website.
