According to Deutsche Welle, the fourth day of the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled in New York on September 25. Representatives of Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon and other countries are due to speak at the morning meeting, including an expected address by Lebanon’s prime minister.

In the afternoon, representatives of Egypt, Mexico, Kazakhstan and Sweden are due to take the General Assembly podium. Representatives of Haiti and Norway are also listed among the other scheduled speakers.

Third day of debates

The previous day of the session was largely devoted to the war in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected accusations during his speech that his country’s actions in Gaza constitute genocide. Such accusations were voiced by several speakers, including Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas.

Responses to Netanyahu’s speech

After the meeting ended, representatives of Iran, Turkey and Qatar exercised their right of reply and criticized the Israeli prime minister’s speech. Netanyahu said that accusations of genocide against Israel were “the biggest lie of the century,” and also claimed that Hamas uses civilians as human shields and places command posts in hospitals, schools and mosques.
