Anti-Israel slogans heard at Damascus fair — Jerusalem Post
At the 63rd Damascus International Fair in Syria, anti-Israel slogans calling to “liberate Palestine” were heard on the final day of the event. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post, citing circulated video footage and international media.
Slogans at the fair’s closing
According to the publication, video recorded at the fair features Arabic chants addressing Al-Aqsa and Gaza. People also stated their intention to “liberate Palestine” and used an offensive term regarding Zionists.
The fair was organized by Syria’s Ministry of Economy and Industry together with the administration of the Damascus International Fair. This year, the Damascus World Economic Forum was held for the first time as part of the event. According to the Rebuilding Syria organization, it was created as a platform for dialogue between the government, the private sector, investors, and international partners.

Companies from dozens of countries take part
The event was held under the slogan “Syria Shines Again.” Syrian state agency SANA said that nearly one thousand companies and organizations from around 60 countries took part. According to SANA, they included about 13 German companies and several companies from the United States. A total of 1.4 million people were expected to visit the fair.
Syrian journalist and editor-in-chief of Syria Focus Ghassan Ibrahim told the Jerusalem Post that such sentiments were the result of years of anti-Israel indoctrination under Bashar al-Assad’s regime. In his view, Syria’s current government is trying to act pragmatically, and such rhetoric is not an organized policy or strategy of the authorities.
At the same time, Sarit Zehavi, founder and president of the Alma Research and Education Center and a reserve lieutenant colonel, said that such a display could encourage Israel to maintain a buffer zone in Syria. She also called it evidence of the new Syrian government’s hostility.
