Man in critical condition in Cyprus after garage explosion
In Sotira, Cyprus, a 30-year-old man is in critical condition after the explosion of a suspected explosive device in the garage of his home. The blast occurred at around 21:20 on Friday. On Sunday, the victim remained intubated in the intensive care unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Severe injuries
The man sustained injuries to both legs, and his right hand was amputated. He was initially taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors operated on him for several hours. Doctors later decided to transfer the patient to the hospital in Nicosia because he required specialized medical care.

Investigative theories
According to Cyprus Mail, police spokesperson Vyron Vyroneas said investigators are examining all possible scenarios. He also confirmed that the victim is a foreign national who was previously known to police.
Bomb disposal experts who examined the scene concluded that an improvised metal explosive device detonated in the garage. Police do not rule out an attempted murder, and are also investigating whether the device may have belonged to the man himself and exploded prematurely during its assembly. The house remains cordoned off and under police guard; law enforcement officers are collecting witness statements and nearby surveillance camera footage.
