In Cyprus, defendant pleads guilty to murder of Bangladeshi student — Cyprus Mail
At the Larnaca criminal court in Cyprus, a man accused of murdering 22-year-old Bangladeshi student Shahruar Ahmed Emon pleaded guilty to all three charges. This was reported by Cyprus Mail.
Charges in the case
The man was charged with premeditated murder, kidnapping with intent to murder, and extortion of property through threats with intent to obtain it. According to the publication, the defendant also confessed to the student's murder. The crimes referred to in the case were committed in Larnaca district in June.
The court adjourned further proceedings until October 6. During the forensic examination, three wounds in the shoulder blade area and one wound on the left side of Emon's neck were found on his body.

Circumstances examined by investigators
According to evidence presented at a preliminary hearing, the defendant allegedly met Emon on a bus on June 7. They exchanged contact details. In court, a statement attributed to the defendant was voiced that he believed the student came from a wealthy family.
Two days later, on June 9, the man allegedly bought a knife. On June 11, he contacted the student and said he had found him a job paying 50 euros per day. That same evening, Emon arrived in the Kofinou area to meet him.
The student's body was later found in an open area in Kofinou. A knife, which was included in the evidence, was also found at the scene. Police said that Emon's belongings, including boarding passes and a bank card in the name of the 22-year-old student, were found on the man during his arrest.
