Trump nominates Kimberly Greenwood as U.S. ambassador to Barbados
U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated Kimberly Greenwood to serve as the United States ambassador to Barbados. Her nomination, along with dozens of other nominees for judicial, diplomatic and administrative positions, was sent to the U.S. Senate, CBS News reports.
Representation in seven countries
If confirmed by the Senate, Greenwood will also represent the United States in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines without additional compensation.
It is common practice for the U.S. diplomatic service for one ambassador to work simultaneously in Barbados and several small Eastern Caribbean states. Most of them do not have separate U.S. diplomatic missions.
In an Instagram post, Kimberly Greenwood thanked Trump and called the nomination one of the greatest honors of her life. She said that, if confirmed, she would work to justify this trust, build sincere relationships and show the peoples of the countries where she would represent the United States how much America values their friendship.
