Tourist routes have been opened in southern Israel in time for Independence Day

The Israel Defense Forces have partially reopened tourist routes in the south of the country to mark Independence Day. Some areas that were previously closed military zones will be accessible to visitors, though with a number of restrictions. At the same time, some training grounds remain closed due to military exercises. This was reported by the command of Israel’s Southern Command.

The decision was made following an operational assessment of the security situation, which allowed for the temporary opening of certain routes to tourists.

The IDF emphasized that the opening applies only to specific areas, and visits to any military territories are possible only with prior approval. “A map of areas permitted and prohibited for entry, as well as their operating hours, has been published on the IDF’s official channels on social media platform X,” the army’s statement reads.

The Southern District’s liaison center is operating to coordinate visits. Tourists are asked to verify information in advance and adhere to all safety rules. Separately, the military emphasized: if ammunition or suspicious objects are found, do not approach them. Findings should be reported immediately to the official number provided for contacting the army.

Some training grounds will remain closed, as the Israeli army continues active training in both the south and north of the country, even during the holiday period.

Trumpexpressed his willingness to meet personally with Iran’s new leadership.

U.S. President Donald Trump also announced progress in negotiations with Iran, under which Washington would allegedly receive all of Tehran’s enriched uranium without any financial payments.

Additionally, Israel agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon and announced the start of a move toward a diplomatic settlement; however, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the war against Hezbollah is not yet over and military operations will continue.

Additionally, Iran announced new rules for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the world’s key oil supply routes. Commercial vessels will now be able to transit only with permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy.
