The fuel crisis has reached a critical point in southern Russia

In the Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast, gasoline supply disruptions are once again being reported, causing some gas stations to close and long lines to form at others. Fuel shortages are spreading to more and more regions of Russia—by early August, shortages and supply restrictions had already been reported in at least 12 regions.

According to the Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters, the situation has significantly worsened over the past two weeks, causing 120 gas stations in the region to shut down. Currently, more than 920 gas stations remain in operation there. Amid the shortage, local authorities have imposed strict restrictions: the sale of fuel into canisters or other containers has been halted, and limits have been placed on the amount of gasoline sold to a single customer. Volunteers and Cossacks have been called in to maintain order and manage lines at gas stations, and residents are being urged not to stockpile fuel.

Authorities in the neighboring Rostov Region have also acknowledged problems with fuel supplies. According to Yuriy Slyusar, the region’s acting governor, the situation is most critical for the popular AI-95 gasoline brand. Due to fuel shortages, long lines have once again formed at gas stations in Rostov, prompting the resumption of volunteer shifts there as well.

Earlier, drones attacked oil refineries in Syzran and the Krasnodar Krai.

Prior to that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out new long-range strikes on militarily significant targets on Russian territory and in the Black Sea. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian military struck targets more than 1,300 kilometers from the front lines, targeting oil infrastructure and the Russian navy.

On the night of August 5–6, the Yaroslavl Region of the Russian Federation came under attack by drones. Amid Russian air defense operations, authorities temporarily blocked the exit from Yaroslavl toward Moscow. At the same time, reports emerged online about a possible strike on the Yaroslavl oil refinery.
