NASA welcomes Artemis II crew home after historic mission
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman greeted astronauts Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy upon their return, highlighting the historic significance of their achievement in advancing space exploration.
In his statement, Isaacman expressed gratitude to former President Donald Trump and the US Congress for the mandate and resources that made this mission—and the future of the Artemis program—possible. He praised the crew’s exceptional skill and courage in being the first to launch the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft, pushing human crewed spaceflight farther than ever before.
The Artemis program aims to ensure sustained lunar exploration and prepare for crewed missions to Mars. Following the success of Artemis II, NASA plans to proceed with assembling further spacecraft and preparing for new challenges in space exploration.
NASA, established in 1958, is the leading US space agency responsible for national space programs and technology. It fosters international cooperation and innovation for exploring the Solar System and beyond.
The completion of Artemis II represents a vital milestone demonstrating humanity’s capability to explore and colonise space on a new level, laying foundations for future missions that may transform our understanding of the universe.
Future phases of Artemis are expected to raise NASA’s ambitions further, supporting larger missions and research that could open new frontiers for humankind.
