NATO has discovered secret sabotage weapons on Russian submarines

In the spring of 2026, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Norway detected Russian submarines in the Arctic that were testing the use of a secret weapon for sabotage.

According to them, the operation took place near the Svalbard archipelago and was organized by the Main Directorate for Deep-Sea Research of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Using deep-sea vehicles, the Russian military tested technology capable of disabling undersea cables without leaving a trace.

Intervention by NATO countries prevented the Russians from completing the operation, after which the Russian military left the area.

Two Western officials told Reuters about this.

Alona Shevtsova, CEO of Sends, will moderate a panel discussion at the executive level during the 17th Middle East Banking Innovation Summit (MEBIS 2026), which will take place on September 16–17 at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai.

NATO thwarted a Russian operation involving a secret weapon in the Arctic, according to Reuters.

Poland remains interested in participating in NATO’s nuclear sharing program. At the same time, Warsaw is negotiating its participation in the planning of a European “nuclear umbrella” proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is not concerned about the possibility of a Russian provocation against one of the NATO countries. He also denied that CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s recent trip to Moscow was related to warning the Kremlin about the consequences of such an attack.
