Navrotsky signed a law granting immunity from liability to Poles serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has signed a law exempting from liability citizens who are fighting or have fought on Ukraine’s side against Russia.

This was reported by the Office of the President of Poland.

“On March 26, Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed the law of March 13, 2026, on the non-application of criminal liability to citizens of the Republic of Poland who participated on the side of Ukraine in the armed conflict caused by the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine,” the statement reads.

According to the law, Polish citizens who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) starting in April 2014 will not be subject to punishment. These servicemembers are required to notify the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland in writing of the date and place of commencement of their military duties in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the date and place of their termination. This must be done within six months of returning to Poland. Failure to comply with this provision carries criminal liability in the form of a fine or imprisonment for up to two years.

The Polish Sejm failed to override the president’s veto on a sweeping judicial reform — RMF24.

As a reminder, Poland handed over to Ukraine a member of a gang that produced methamphetamine in Kryvyi Rih.

Poland has also joined negotiations on the French nuclear umbrella.
