Trump is seeking a ceasefire and an end to the war in Ukraine as soon as possible – Rubio

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during the G7 summit that President Donald Trump is committed to achieving a ceasefire and resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war as quickly as possible. 

The head of the State Department announced this on social media platform X on March 27, 2026. According to Rubio, the U.S. administration views the negotiation process between the parties to the conflict as the key tool for achieving this goal.

During the meeting of G7 foreign ministers, the U.S. side once again reaffirmed the priority of a peaceful settlement. Marco Rubio emphasized that the White House’s efforts are focused on finding diplomatic solutions to end hostilities as soon as possible. Currently, U.S. officials are continuing consultations with international partners regarding the formats of possible negotiations. This statement came amid discussions on the future strategy for supporting stability in the European region.

As a reminder, Rubio arrived at the G7 summit in France to discuss the wars in Ukraine and Iran.
