Netanyahu warns of high price for those who may have directed attacker — NDTV World

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that those who may have directed the attacker on a flydubai flight to Tel Aviv will pay a high price. The plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, with no fatalities.

Netanyahu's statement

As NDTV World reports, Netanyahu said that the circumstances of the case are gradually becoming clearer. According to him, the attacker underwent Islamist radicalization and intended to crash the plane with passengers on board.

The Israeli prime minister said that authorities are checking whether the attacker was directed by someone. He did not name any country that Israel would consider potentially involved and provided no evidence of any state's involvement.

What is known about the flight

According to Israeli officials and eyewitnesses, the co-pilot of the flight to Tel Aviv stabbed an Indian pilot. After that, the pilot allowed passengers to enter the cockpit, where they subdued the attacker.

Netanyahu had previously said that the attacker, who was the co-pilot, was from Oman, and also suggested that he may have had mental health problems. US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he had heard about Iran's possible involvement and stated that the country would face a strong blow if this were confirmed.
