The Netherlands and the United States have agreed on joint measures to support Ukraine
Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen held an official meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington.
During the talks, the parties focused on strengthening transatlantic ties and coordinating efforts to resolve conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The head of the Dutch Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining unity between Europe and Washington in countering Russian aggression.
The main priority remains the development and implementation of a strategy that will ensure a stable and just peace for Ukraine.
“It is extremely important that Europe and the United States continue to work closely together to achieve a lasting peace agreement,” Tom Berendsen emphasized.
He also added that it is necessary to remain as focused as possible on supporting Kyiv, despite other global challenges.
The diplomats paid particular attention to the situation surrounding Iran and the security of maritime trade routes.
Berendsen expressed hope that the ceasefire would yield lasting results and help stabilize critical regions.
“It is important that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran holds and leads to a sustainable outcome. It is imperative that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened and that freedom of navigation be fully respected,” the minister noted.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to NATO principles and their readiness to invest in joint defense projects.
The U.S. President and his administration continue to view the Netherlands as a key partner on issues of European security and energy stability.
