Germany has asked Ukraine to increase its purchases of weapons from German manufacturers
Germany has called on Ukraine to purchase more weapons from German defense companies. Officials in Berlin believe that the German defense industry should receive the majority of orders as part of the large-scale financial and military support for Ukraine.
Wadeful emphasized that Germany is one of Ukraine’s biggest supporters in terms of the volume of financial and military aid.
According to him, the German government must also explain to its own taxpayers why the country is spending significant funds to support Kyiv.
Against this backdrop, the German foreign minister stated that German defense companies should benefit more from the funding Germany is directing toward aid to Ukraine.
“We are Ukraine’s biggest supporter in terms of financial and military aid. And, naturally, the German defense industry should benefit from this,” said Wadepful.
He added that German manufacturers should receive Ukrainian orders more frequently, and that Kyiv, in Berlin’s view, should at the very least involve German defense companies in relevant procurements.
Wadeful directly acknowledged that the current level of orders from Ukraine does not satisfy the German side.
“At present, we are not entirely satisfied with the number of orders placed in Germany. Therefore, we have asked the Ukrainian government to review this and ensure improvements,” the minister said.
Thus, Berlin expects Kyiv to more actively involve the German defense-industrial complex in arms procurement.
Earlier, Johann Wadephul stated that Ukrainian men of draft age who are in Germany must return to Ukraine.
According to the minister, German authorities have information about Ukrainians who receive social assistance, are registered in the country, or hold a residence permit.
Berlin is also prepared to share this data with the Ukrainian side to help Kyiv identify men of conscription age who are in Germany.

The supply of American weapons to Ukraine under the PURL mechanism continues uninterrupted. Specifically, this includes critically important equipment and air defense systems.

The article states that such a decision could simultaneously help Ukraine and reduce the burden on U.S. and European arms manufacturers.
Deliveries of U.S. weapons to Ukraine under the PURL initiative continue, despite Donald Trump’s statements about a temporary suspension of ammunition exports. NATO has confirmed that under the program, Ukraine receives 75% of its Patriot missiles and 90% of its air defense ammunition, funded by allies and partners.
