The phone numbers of three British ministers have been made publicly available

The personal cell phone numbers of at least three members of the British government were available online along with their names. According to The Guardian, the individuals in question are Defense Minister Wes Streeting, Justice Minister Alex Norris, and Minister for Northern Ireland Chris Bryant.

According to the publication, the link to Stritting’s number has already been removed. A source at The Guardian stated that he conducts all government business via his official work phone. Officials are reportedly working to remove the other exposed contact details. Politico was the first to report on the leak of the phone numbers.

This comes on the heels of an incident in which Prime Minister Andy Burnham exchanged messages with an unknown individual who posed as Suzy Wiles, Chief of Staff to U.S. President Donald Trump. According to The Guardian, no substantive messages were sent during this exchange, and the suspicious activity was quickly reported to the appropriate authorities.

According to Politico, the British Embassy in Washington notified the White House out of concern over the incident. A spokesperson for the British government stated that the government does not comment on matters of national security. Downing Street did not specify whether measures had been taken to prevent a new security breach, nor did it disclose whether the correspondence took place via WhatsApp.

Last year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the FBI had launched an investigation into attempts to gain access to Wiles’s phone. At that time, an unknown individual, who was also impersonating her, had been in contact with prominent Republicans and business leaders.

In December 2025, a report by a U.S. Department of Defense inspector concluded that Pentagon chief Pete Hagsett had endangered the lives of American service members by discussing details of a military operation in a group chat to which a journalist had been added. According to a source at The Guardian, the report states that the classified information shared by Hagseth could have put military personnel at risk if it had been intercepted by the enemy.
