Norway has acquired an American company that manufactures missiles for Ukraine

Norway has acquired an American company that manufactures missiles for Ukraine

The Norwegian defense company Kongsberg has officially completed the acquisition of a 90% stake in the U.S.-based Zone 5 Technologies LLC, having received all necessary approvals from U.S. regulatory authorities. The deal opens up new opportunities for scaling up the production of modern high-precision munitions, including cruise missiles, which are already being used by Ukraine.

The completion of the acquisition process was announced after the U.S. side approved all necessary regulatory procedures.

At the same time, Zone 5 Technologies will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary and retain its current management team led by CEO Thomas Akers.

It is known that Kongsberg announced its intention to acquire the American company back in December 2025. It took about five and a half months to finalize the deal and obtain the necessary approvals.

Particular attention is drawn to the fact that the completion of the deal occurred almost simultaneously with reports of Ukraine’s use of AGM-188A Rusty Dagger cruise missiles, which are one of Zone 5 Technologies’ key products. These missiles were developed under the ERAM program specifically for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In addition to cruise missiles, the American company is known for developing White Spike interceptors, which successfully passed tests last year. Kongsberg refers to Zone 5 as one of the leaders in the segment of low-cost, mass-produced high-precision munitions.

The Norwegian corporation’s press office emphasized that the new owner plans to support the American company’s development and accelerate its international expansion.

Analysts note that this deal is positive for Ukraine, as it paves the way for increased production capacity and faster production of weapons, particularly the AGM-188A Rusty Dagger missiles. Experts also point out that Kongsberg is actively expanding its presence in the segment of affordable and mass-produced weapons, the development of which has been significantly accelerated by the experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Thus, the conclusion of the agreement between Kongsberg and Zone 5 Technologies could be an important step both for the development of Ukraine’s defense industry partners and for the further expansion of production of modern weapons that have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield.

This is reported by Defense Express.

As a reminder, Fire Point has developed the “Flamingo” cruise missile, capable of traveling over 1,800 miles and striking strategic targets deep behind enemy lines.

Denmark is also awaiting a report from Ukraine on Fire Point’s activities.
