UAE delivers 533 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip

Five humanitarian convoys from the United Arab Emirates entered the Gaza Strip, delivering 533 tonnes of supplies for Palestinians. The convoys included 66 trucks carrying food and materials for setting up temporary housing.

Aid through Egypt

The supplies were prepared and dispatched through the UAE humanitarian aid logistics centre in the Egyptian city of El Arish. The centre receives, sorts and prepares shipments before they are sent to the Gaza Strip.

The convoys operated as part of the UAE humanitarian operation “Gallant Knight 3”. The arrival of the supplies in the Gaza Strip was reported by The National (UAE).

Medical support

According to the publication, last month the UAE marked 1,000 days of continuous support for Palestinians. During this time, the country sent aid worth more than 14.2 billion dirhams, or $3.89 billion. This support, among other things, helped establish a floating hospital in Egypt and two medical centres in Gaza.

Thousands of patients, including people with cancer and war-related injuries, arrived in the UAE for treatment. Since the campaign began in June, the Step of Hope programme has provided prosthetics to 72 Palestinians who underwent amputations.
