UAE delivers humanitarian aid to Colombia after earthquake — The National
The United Arab Emirates has delivered humanitarian aid to Colombia as part of a $10 million support package allocated after the powerful earthquake. The shipment includes food, hygiene kits and cleaning equipment, The National reports.
Assistance for affected communities
The supplies are intended for communities that continue to deal with the consequences of the natural disaster. The aid was sent at the direction of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed following the earthquake.
The 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck on August 10 near the city of San José del Palmar in the Chocó department in western Colombia. According to the publication, more than 300 people were killed in the earthquake, while thousands more were injured.

Consequences of the earthquake
The earthquake was one of the most powerful in Colombia in recent years. Thousands of homes and other structures were destroyed, and the country's authorities declared a state of emergency.
Last month, Sheikh Mohamed held a telephone conversation with Colombia's new president, Abelardo de la Espriella. He expressed condolences to the families of those killed, wished the injured a speedy recovery and confirmed the UAE's solidarity with the Colombian government and people. De la Espriella thanked the Emirates for their response to the humanitarian crisis.
