The UAE is ramping up oil production amid predictions of a new era

The UAE is ramping up oil production amid predictions of a new era

The United Arab Emirates asserts that the world is gradually entering the final phase of the oil era, and the country is preparing to make the most of the time while demand for hydrocarbons remains high. That is why the UAE is ramping up production and revising its energy strategy, according to Reuters.

The United Arab Emirates’ decision to effectively review its participation in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has been in the works for several years and is based on the belief that the world is nearing the end of the hydrocarbon era. Reuters reports this, citing Anwar Gargash, senior advisor to the UAE president.

The country’s leadership believes that demand for oil will decline in the long term, and therefore, it is necessary to make the most of its resource advantage now. That is why the Emirates plan to increase production and boost revenues while the market allows it. “We see that we are nearing a sort of end to the hydrocarbon era. And, as a result, if we can produce and generate revenue and use that revenue to invest in other sectors, that is exactly what we should do,” Gargash said.

According to him, OPEC quotas previously effectively held back the development of the UAE’s oil sector, as they prevented the country from reaching its true production capacity. The priority now is to maximize production and invest in future economic sectors.

The UAE’s production capacity currently stands at about 4.85 million barrels of oil per day, and the country plans to raise this figure to 5 million by 2027. Previously, the target volumes were significantly lower.

At the same time, the state-owned oil company ADNOC emphasizes that the country remains committed to being a stabilizing force in the global energy market. Meanwhile, within the Emirates themselves, a growing consensus is emerging: the oil era is gradually coming to an end, and this transition must be managed as effectively as possible.

Iran has declared a new “control” zone in the Persian Gulf, which, according to its version, partially covers the waters of the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi has sharply rejected these claims, calling them unrealistic and provocative.
