The UAE has made it into the top 5 most competitive countries in the world
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked 5th in the global competitiveness index and emerged as the clear leader in terms of low bureaucracy, according to the World Competitiveness Report 2026.
The UAE has retained its top spot in the Middle East for the tenth consecutive year, solidifying its position as one of the region’s most stable economies.
According to the report, the country also ranked No. 1 in the world in terms of economic performance, took the top spots for the government’s ability to adapt to change, and received the highest scores for minimizing bureaucratic procedures.
The UAE also topped 21 international rankings and placed in the top 5 across 67 key indicators.
These include the business environment, infrastructure, and the quality of air travel.
Experts note that the UAE’s high rankings are driven by a combination of economic flexibility, the digitization of government services, and an attractive business climate, making the country one of the world’s most dynamic economies.
Previously, experts compiled a new global ranking of cities that are the most livable for those moving abroad in search of work and better conditions. Lisbon topped the list, outranking dozens of major metropolises thanks to its combination of safety, affordability, and quality of life.
