UAE to call for global cooperation against crime — The National

The 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice will take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from September 26 to October 1, 2026. As The National reports, the forum will be held in the UAE for the first time at ADNEC.

The congress is expected to define a roadmap for international cooperation in crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law for the next five years. Participants will discuss technology-related offences, as well as emerging forms of financial, environmental, cyber and organized crime.

Participants and programme

UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah Al Nuaimi said that representatives of more than 97 countries, including over 32 justice and interior ministers, will take part in the congress. According to him, the programme will include 15 main events, about 200 meetings and 38 specialized exhibitions, as well as the participation of more than 93 experts.

Among the forum's topics will be the impact of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies on criminal justice systems. Al Nuaimi noted that technologies can strengthen crime prevention and law enforcement work while also creating legal and ethical challenges.

Hatem Fouad, the regional representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime for the Gulf countries, said the congress will provide a platform for states to cooperate in combating organized crime and terrorism. According to him, criminals are increasingly using technology, artificial intelligence, international travel and global supply chains.

UN congresses on crime prevention and criminal justice are held every five years. The first session took place in Geneva in 1955.
