Obasanjo quizzes comedian about Queen Elizabeth II — Premium Times Nigeria

In Nigeria, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, while appearing on the show Curiosity Made Me Ask, did not recognize several well-known representatives of Nigeria’s entertainment industry and then offered the host his own celebrity knowledge test. This was reported by Premium Times Nigeria.

Comedian Adebayo Abidemi, known as Isbae U, asked Obasanjo whether he knew music manager Don Jazzy, dancer Poco Lee, streamer Carter Efe and other show business figures. The former president replied that he did not know these names and joked that perhaps he did not consider them great and important people.

Meetings with the British monarchy

Obasanjo then asked the host whether he knew the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III. According to him, he hosted Elizabeth II in Nigeria and also met Charles at his farm in Wales. The former president contrasted these acquaintances with the host’s familiarity with Nigerian internet celebrities.

Obasanjo also joked with Isbae U about the international audience of his program. He noted that the show had already reached viewers in the United States and the United Kingdom, although the comedian himself had not visited all the countries where he is watched.

Change in attitude toward Charly Boy

During the conversation, the former president mentioned Nigerian stage veteran Charles Oputa, known as Charly Boy. According to Obasanjo, he initially did not like the artist’s unusual appearance and public image. However, he changed his mind after visiting the performer’s father, former Supreme Court justice Chukwudifu Oputa.

Obasanjo said he saw how Charly Boy cared for his father until his death and later cared for his mother, Margaret Oputa, in the same way. According to him, the artist explained that his eccentric style was a way of earning money. After that, the former president called Charly Boy smart and added that he likes him a little now.
