Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she does not rule out the possibility of running for U.S. president in 2028. She made the remarks during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” according to CNBC.

When asked about a possible candidacy, the representative from New York noted that she does not rule out that possibility and is grateful for the significant support she has received. At the same time, she emphasized that politicians should focus on the midterm elections rather than on their own political ambitions.

Ocasio-Cortez also did not rule out running in the 2028 U.S. Senate election. That year, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who represents New York State, will be seeking reelection. The congresswoman said that at this stage, anything is possible.

Ocasio-Cortez has represented parts of the Bronx and Queens in the House of Representatives since 2019. She has become a prominent figure on the left wing of the Democratic Party and has held events in various states alongside Senator Bernie Sanders. According to a recent University of New Hampshire poll, Ocasio-Cortez led the field of candidates in the state, ahead of former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Senator Mark Kelly.
