The UN and the EU have estimated the cost of rebuilding Gaza at $71 billion — Bloomberg

A staggering $71.4 billion will be needed to fully rebuild the Gaza Strip over the next decade.

This is stated in a new joint report by the European Union, the United Nations, and the World Bank, according to Bloomberg.

Experts emphasize that the scale of the destruction requires the immediate mobilization of resources to prevent a full-blown humanitarian catastrophe.

More than a third of the total amount—$26.3 billion—must be allocated to immediate needs within the next 18 months.

These funds should be used to restore basic services—water supply, electricity, and sanitation—as well as to repair critical civilian infrastructure.

According to the report, the situation for the civilian population remains critical. More than 1.9 million people, representing 80% of Gaza’s population, have become displaced within their own homes.

About 60% of residents have completely lost their homes, and 77% are under constant threat of acute hunger.

The region’s healthcare system has been virtually destroyed: 94% of hospitals have been destroyed or severely damaged, and stocks of essential medicines have been depleted by half.

Experts warn that large-scale reconstruction is impossible without a stable ceasefire and full access for humanitarian missions.

Clearing the territory of vast amounts of debris and unexploded ordnance remains a separate challenge.

According to health authorities controlled by Hamas, the total number of conflict casualties has already exceeded 72,000, with the death toll continuing to rise even during current ceasefires.
