Poll: Julle Madise Leads Among Candidates for the Estonian Presidency
Estonian Chancellor of Justice Julle Madise emerged as the most popular choice among the named candidates for the country’s presidency in a poll conducted by Emor on behalf of ERR. She received the support of 35% of respondents, while 18% remained undecided.
Among the listed candidates, Tiit Land came in second with 14% support, and Mart Helme came in third with 12%. Jonathan Vsevjov received 6%, while Maive Rute and Indrek Laul each received 2%. Another 12% of respondents chose the “other candidate” option; among these responses, Alara Karis, Marina Kaljurand, and Hannes Hanso were specifically mentioned.
Among Estonian-speaking respondents, 43% supported Madise, 16% supported Land, 12% supported Helme, and 7% supported Vsevyov. Among respondents of other nationalities, 35% did not name a preferred candidate. In this group, 20% of those surveyed supported Madise, 11% supported Helme, 9% supported Landa, and 4% supported Vsevjova.

Madise was the most popular candidate among voters of all parties except EKRE. She enjoyed the highest level of support among supporters of the Reform Party—65%. Among Parempoolsed voters, 57% supported her; among Social Democratic Party voters, 52%; among Isamaa voters, 48%; and among Eesti 200 voters, 42%. Among supporters of the Center Party, 22% chose Madise, while 20% chose Landa.
Women were more likely to support Madise: 39% of women and 31% of men backed her. She led in all age groups, with the highest support coming from respondents aged 16–24 (50%) and those aged 75 and older (44%). Her support increased with higher levels of education: from 25% among respondents with a basic education to 39% among those with a higher education.
The survey was conducted online from August 12 to 19 among 1,141 Estonian residents aged 16 and older. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
