Poll: Yashar party ahead of Netanyahu’s Likud in Israel
In Israel, the Yashar party of former Chief of the General Staff Gadi Eisenkot could win 25 seats in the Knesset if elections were held today, according to a poll. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party would receive 21 seats.
The poll for Channel 12 was conducted by the Israeli market research and public opinion institute Midgam, Anadolu Agency reports. Compared with the channel’s previous survey, Yashar gained one seat, while Likud lost two.
Distribution of seats
The Together party of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett would receive 13 seats, losing two mandates, according to the survey. The Democrats, led by Yair Golan, would retain 11 seats, while Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu party would receive eight.
The ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party could win eight seats, while Aryeh Deri’s Shas would receive seven. The alliance of right-wing parties Religious Zionism and Zehut was projected to receive six mandates, while Ofer Winter’s Amha Israel would receive four.

Among Arab political forces, Yusuf Jabareen’s Joint List could receive seven seats, while Mansour Abbas’s United Arab List would receive four. Benny Gantz’s Kahol Lavan party and Avi Maoz’s Noam Israel would not pass the 3.25% electoral threshold, according to the poll.
Balance of blocs
According to the poll, the opposition bloc could count on 68 seats: 57 from Jewish parties and 11 from Arab parties. Netanyahu’s bloc would receive 52 seats, two more after the parties of Smotrich and Winter crossed the electoral threshold. Forming a government in the 120-seat Knesset requires the support of at least 61 lawmakers.
When asked who is more suitable for the post of prime minister, 42% of respondents named Eisenkot and 35% named Netanyahu. Israel’s general elections are scheduled for October 27. On September 8, parties submitted candidate lists one day before the September 9 deadline.
