Pakistan’s opposition consults on all-party conference

Pakistan’s opposition is holding consultations on convening an all-party conference. It plans to discuss the creation of new provinces, the law and order situation, and the state of the economy.

Opposition consultations

PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced plans to hold the conference after representatives of his party met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F). As Dawn reports, Gohar called the meeting a positive development and expressed hope that consultations would continue.

Issues for discussion

According to Gohar, the opposition intends to involve political parties in discussing nationwide issues. Among the topics, he named the current law and order situation, the economy, inflation, lawlessness, and the issue of creating new provinces.

Separately, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mehmud Khan Achakzai wrote on X that he, together with Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Nasir, met with PTI representatives, including Gohar. According to him, the participants decided to hold an all-party conference as soon as possible.
