Pakistan to include older motorcycles and rickshaws in fuel relief program — Dawn
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered that motorcycles, rickshaws and qingqis registered after January 1, 2006, be included in the state fuel relief program. Such vehicles will be able to register for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Program.
As Dawn reports, the head of government issued the relevant directive on Friday. Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office said on social media platform X that all motorcycles, rickshaws and qingqis registered after that date would be eligible to register.
Program terms
Shehbaz Sharif announced the program on September 13 amid rising global oil prices. Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, qingqis, other two- and three-wheeled vehicles, as well as cars with engines of up to 800 cubic centimeters, are entitled to assistance of 100 Pakistani rupees per liter of gasoline.

Motorcycle, rickshaw, qingqi and other two- and three-wheeled vehicle users have a monthly limit of 20 liters of gasoline. Owners of small cars with engines of up to 800 cubic centimeters can receive assistance for 30 liters of gasoline per month.
Launch problems
On Thursday, the first day of the program’s nationwide launch, many gas stations refused to accept the digital application. Fuel station representatives explained this by the lack of a system that would allow gasoline to be sold at a discount of 100 rupees per liter.
The day before, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association expressed concern about the subsidy payment mechanism. The association said its members did not know the compensation procedure and feared difficulties in reimbursement.
