Pope Leo XIV and Bad Bunny held a private meeting in Madrid

Pope Leo XIV met with Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny during a private audience in Madrid, and the event immediately caught the attention of the global media. The meeting took place in an informal setting, without public statements or official photographs, but the Vatican confirmed the information.

The event was one of the most unexpected moments of the pontiff’s visit to Spain, where he held a series of private meetings.

According to Billboard, citing RTVE and the Vatican, the audience took place on Monday, June 8, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where the Pope was staying as part of his visit. After a mass meeting with the faithful, the pontiff held a series of private audiences, including a conversation with Bad Bunny. “Information about the meeting was first released by the Spanish public broadcaster RTVE and later confirmed by the Vatican,” the report notes.

According to media reports, preparations for the meeting began well in advance. Bad Bunny’s representatives had been in contact with the Spanish Episcopal Conference for several weeks to arrange the possibility of an audience with the Pope. The idea of the artist making a public appearance in Madrid’s Cibeles Square was also considered, but this option was ultimately not pursued.

It is reported that Bad Bunny arrived at the meeting accompanied by family members and close associates. The audience took place in a private setting, without official broadcasts or press releases. During the conversation, only unofficial photos were taken on cell phones, and official photos have not yet been released.

The Pope’s meeting with one of the world’s most popular musicians was an unexpected convergence of the religious and pop culture worlds, which immediately sparked interest in the international media. Details of the conversation have not yet been disclosed, but the event itself has already become one of the most talked-about moments during the pontiff’s visit to Spain. This is reported by Billboard.
