The Norwegian Parliament has approved additional defense spending through 2036
The political parties represented in the Norwegian Parliament have agreed on a long-term plan for the development of the armed forces, which provides for additional funding for the defense sector through 2036.
Nine parties in the Storting supported the allocation of an additional 6.15 billion Norwegian kroner (nearly 570 million euros) for defense needs.
A significant portion of the funds is planned to be directed toward the development of unmanned technologies and electronic warfare capabilities. Investments in this area will increase by 2.95 billion kroner, and total funding for drones and electronic warfare will reach nearly 19 billion kroner (1.76 billion euros) by 2036.
Strengthening air defense has been identified as a separate priority. Norway intends to accelerate the procurement of modern long-range air defense systems.
