The Norwegian Parliament has approved a temporary reduction in fuel taxes

The Norwegian Storting has passed a bill to reduce taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel and to suspend the road tax until September 1.

This was reported by NRK.

The decision was passed by a majority vote of liberals, conservatives, centrists, and Christian Democrats with the aim of curbing prices that have skyrocketed due to the war in the Middle East. Despite the parliament’s approval of the initiative, the country’s government has harshly criticized this move.

Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg stated that the Centrist Party’s support for the bill constitutes a breach of the budget agreement with the ruling coalition. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre warned of potential negative consequences for the economy, as implementing the plan would require drawing billions of kroner from the oil fund without adequate coverage. According to the head of government, this could trigger further inflation and higher interest rates. At the same time, the executive branch confirmed its readiness to comply with the adopted legislation. New tax regulations are now expected to take effect, which should ease the financial burden on consumers.

On March 26, diesel fuel prices in Ukraine fell slightly, while gasoline prices remained virtually unchanged. The average price of A-95 remains at 71.85 UAH per liter, while diesel has dropped to 84.54 UAH. Autogas, on the other hand, has risen slightly in price.
