Pashinyan's party wins the election in Armenia with over 50% of the vote
The "Civic Contract" political party, led by Armenia's incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, secured a decisive victory in the recent parliamentary elections, winning more than half of the votes cast.
According to the vote count, the pro-government political force has secured an absolute majority in the country’s legislature.
This will allow the frontrunner to form a new cabinet on his own without the involvement of external coalition partners.
The Central Election Commission has processed data from 1,924 polling stations out of the 2,005 in the country. Currently, the “Civic Contract” party holds 50.07% of the vote, which translates to 64 of the 105 parliamentary seats.
Overall voter turnout at polling stations was recorded at 58.97%, with approximately 1.4 million registered voters participating directly in the election.
The frontrunner in the race, Nikol Pashinyan, promptly reacted to the release of the official data and announced his team’s success. The politician emphasized the party’s significant public legitimacy and growing electoral support among the country’s population.
“I want to emphasize that the ‘Civic Contract’ party received the votes of a greater number of citizens of the Republic of Armenia, a vote of confidence from a greater number of citizens compared to 2021,” the Armenian prime minister stated.
This is evidenced by data published by Radio Free Europe’s Armenian service.
