Beijing denies Reuters reports of secret Russian military training in China
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially refuted a recent report by the international news agency Reuters.
This is stated in a response from a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provided by his office in response to a request from Ukrinform’s correspondent in China.
In the published report, journalists claimed that Russian military personnel were secretly trained on Chinese territory and subsequently took direct part in a full-scale war against Ukraine.
Beijing has firmly denied such accusations, calling them politically motivated.
China’s official diplomatic agency considers the information published by the journalists to be deliberate manipulation and an attempt to discredit the country on the international stage.
Beijing stated that such reports are an attempt to shift responsibility for the Russian-Ukrainian war onto China and called for avoiding an escalation of the conflict.
Diplomats insist on refraining from steps that could increase tensions in the region.
Beijing’s clarification of its position came after Ukrainian media outlets officially reached out to the country’s foreign ministry.
The Chinese side is attempting to demonstrate neutrality and a commitment to a diplomatic resolution of the hostilities.
Ministry representatives emphasize that their country does not support either side in the military conflict.
“On the issue of the Ukrainian crisis, China consistently adheres to an objective and impartial position and is making efforts to facilitate peace talks,” the response states.
At the same time, the country’s authorities continue to use their own specific terminology to describe the war.
Chinese diplomats are convinced that their efforts to find compromises are resonating in many countries around the world. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also stated that Beijing’s “consistent and clear” position has gained recognition and support within the international community.
This, according to the ministry, confirms China’s constructive role in global affairs.
