The Pentagon has estimated the cost to the U.S. of a war with Iran – CNN

The United States has already spent $29 billion on military operations against Iran, exceeding the Department of Defense’s previous estimates. The updated figure includes operational costs for maintaining personnel in the combat zone, as well as expenses for repairing and replacing equipment.

CNN reports this.

Pentagon spokesperson Hurst explained during a hearing in the House of Representatives that the previous estimate of $25 billion had been revised due to a more accurate assessment of the cost of repairing damaged equipment. At the same time, some sources note that actual costs could reach $40 billion to $50 billion if the full cost of rebuilding destroyed U.S. bases in the Middle East is taken into account. These expenditure items are currently excluded from the official estimates provided to Congress in April.

Defense Minister Hegset declined to provide a specific timeline for the preparation of the official report, noting that the data would be released as needed. Analysts emphasize that the rapid rise in the cost of the campaign is linked to the intensity of attacks on U.S. infrastructure in the region. The Pentagon continues to monitor financial needs to ensure stable logistics and personnel safety.

U.S. President Donald Trump is growing increasingly frustrated with the progress of negotiations with Iran to end the conflict and is considering the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations against Tehran.
