Nigeria’s first lady to visit Anambra to launch food bank programme
Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to pay a working visit to Anambra State on Thursday. During the trip, plans include launching the National Community Food Bank Programme for the country’s southeast and opening an information and communication technology centre at the Federal Polytechnic in Oko.
Support for vulnerable groups
The state commissioner for information and values reorientation, Law Mefor, said Anambra is ready to receive the first lady. According to him, the visit is expected to strengthen cooperation between the state authorities and the federal government in tackling poverty, food insecurity and youth unemployment.
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, the food bank will operate under the Renewed Hope Initiative. Mefor said it is intended to support children, breastfeeding mothers, widows, elderly people and people with disabilities.

ICT centre in Oko
Mefor noted that the ICT centre is expected to help students acquire digital skills and complement the state government’s efforts in technology and innovation. According to him, communities, women market traders, youth groups, students and traditional institutions have been involved in preparations for Oluremi Tinubu’s reception.
The commissioner also said the visit is meant to demonstrate the intention of the federal authorities and the Anambra government to improve living conditions and create opportunities for vulnerable residents of the state.
