Peter Magyar will make his first foreign visit to Poland to meet with Tusk
Hungary’s new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, has arrived in Warsaw as part of his first official visit abroad, where he is holding talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
According to the Polish Government Information Center, during the meetings, the parties are discussing key issues in bilateral relations, as well as current topics in European politics, security, and defense.
The Hungarian prime minister is accompanied by a large government delegation of six ministers, including the heads of the ministries of foreign affairs, economy and energy, transport and investment, defense, culture and public relations, as well as agriculture and food.
Following one-on-one talks with Donald Tusk and expanded consultations involving the delegations, Péter Magyar will meet with Polish President Karol Nawrocki, as well as with the Speakers of the Sejm and Senate—Włodzimierz Czajasty and Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.
In Warsaw, the visit will continue with a series of political and diplomatic meetings, after which the prime minister will travel to Gdańsk, where he is scheduled to meet with the legendary leader of “Solidarity” and former Polish President Lech Wałęsa.
On the eve of his visit to Warsaw, Péter Magyar visited Kraków. There, he visited Wawel Castle to pay his respects at the tomb of King Stephen Báthory and held a meeting with Kraków Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś of the Roman Catholic Church.
In the coming weeks, Budapest may support the launch of official negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
