Nolan's "Pirate Odyssey" racked up over 2 million views in two hours
A high-quality pirated copy of the film *Odyssey*, directed by Christopher Nolan, appeared on the social media platform X. Within the first two and a half hours, the video garnered 2.1 million views, after which the post was removed and the account that published it was blocked.
The full version of the film was posted on the night of July 26. Despite the prompt removal of the post, another pirated copy of the film—this time in low quality—reappeared on the social media platform later that same day.
As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the second post managed to garner about 50,000 views before it was removed following a complaint from the rights holder.
At the same time, according to Variety, several illegal copies of *The Odyssey* can still be found on social media platform X. In addition, posts promising the full version of the film are appearing more and more frequently, but in reality contain a video of British singer Rick Astley—a common internet prank known as a “Rickroll.”
Universal Pictures confirmed that it is aware of the film’s leak on social media and stated that it intends to protect its copyrights.
“We take copyright infringement seriously and will use all available means to protect our content and intellectual property rights,” the film studio emphasized.
The world premiere of *The Odyssey* took place on July 16. The film is an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem of the same name and tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, returning home after the end of the Trojan War.
Matt Damon stars in the lead role. The film also features Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
“The Odyssey” became the first feature-length film in history to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras using 70-millimeter film. In this format, the film was shown in only 41 theaters worldwide during its opening days.
This was reported by Variety.
As a reminder, the film “Odysee,” directed by Christopher Nolan, got off to a successful start at the global box office. Over its opening weekend, the film grossed $264.1 million.
Zendaya has once again proven that she is one of the leading icons of contemporary fashion. At the premiere of “Interstellar” in Paris, the actress appeared in an exclusive Louis Vuitton ensemble that took nearly a month of continuous work to create.
