Following the cancellation of Money20/20 Europe, the organizers began shifting their focus to the 2027 conference

One of the world’s most renowned fintech conferences—Money20/20 Europe—saw a decline in attendance in 2026.

This was due to record-high ticket prices, which reached nearly 4,000 euros, as well as a strict refund policy that caused dissatisfaction among attendees.

Due to the high cost of participation, the halls of the RAI Amsterdam conference center in Amsterdam appeared significantly less crowded than in previous years. Organizers allowed only free delegate substitutions via the Pass Manager system, with no provision for refunds or credits toward future events.

Following the mixed results of this year’s forum, Money20/20 leadership announced a reevaluation of the concept for future events.

The main focus will be on content personalization. Organizers promise to create customized programs for each participant, design personalized itineraries, and more carefully curate meetings and discussions based on delegates’ interests.

In this way, the conference team is attempting to offset the negative impact of high participation costs and rekindle the professional community’s interest.

Galina Heilo, President of the International Payment Association, noted that industry conferences remain important for exchanging experiences, finding partners, and understanding market trends.

However, she said, companies are increasingly evaluating the cost-benefit ratio of participation. This is especially true given that there are now a large number of high-quality free professional events, webinars, and thematic forums.

In her opinion, the Money20/20 brand remains strong, but the modern market no longer shows the same demand for expensive offline events as it did in the past.

Whether the organizers will be able to restore the conference’s former scale and popularity will become clear after the 2027 forum.

We reported that the Money20/20 Europe 2026 fintech conference, taking place in Amsterdam (Netherlands) from June 2 to 4, turned out to be an unexpected failure.

Half-empty pavilions, sky-high ticket prices, and a more pragmatic approach by companies to event spending—these unexpected moments defined this year’s Money20/20 Europe fintech conference in Amsterdam.
