The website of Moldova's Ministry of Education and Research was the target of a cyberattack

The official website of Moldova’s Ministry of Education and Research was hit by a cyberattack on Saturday. The site is now back online, according to “European Truth,” citing Newsmaker.

According to preliminary data from the ministry, the attackers altered the website’s source code. As a result, the system redirected users to third-party websites, and the functionality of several pages was partially disrupted.

The ministry stated that specialists contained the incident, removed the unauthorized changes, and restored the site to normal operation. The circumstances of the cyberattack are being investigated by the relevant authorities.

The ministry advised citizens who visited the site during the attack not to interact with suspicious pages or content. It recommends obtaining information only through the ministry’s official channels.

In July, the European Union imposed sanctions on nine Russians and four companies believed to be involved in cyberattacks against the EU, individual member states, and partners.
