Video: Ukrainian rescue workers have arrived in France to help fight a massive wildfire
On August 3, Ukrainian rescue workers arrived in the Gironde department in France, where they will assist local authorities in fighting a large-scale wildfire.
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, specialists from the State Emergency Service have already conducted a reconnaissance of the area, assessed the operational situation, and identified the sections where they will work to extinguish the fire and contain its spread.
The ministry noted that the fire currently covers an area of about 42,000 hectares, with a perimeter of 240 kilometers.
“The French side noted that Ukrainian specialists will work in the most challenging areas, as their practical experience is unique and highly valued by partners. Currently, Ukraine has the largest international team among all participating countries,” the State Emergency Service stated.

As a reminder, Ukraine has sent a combined detachment of State Emergency Service rescuers to France to assist in fighting the large-scale wildfires that have engulfed certain regions of the country. Ukrainian specialists will assist French services in extinguishing the fires and conducting rescue operations.
In France, most of the 224,000 evacuees have been allowed to return home.
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated that the wildfire situation in the country is generally under control, although the risk of new fires remains.
