Iran has denied reports of negotiations with the U.S.

UA NEWS 03 August 2026 14:25
Iran has denied reports of negotiations with the U.S.

Iran is not conducting any negotiations with the United States. This was stated by the country’s Foreign Minister, Esmail Baghai.

At the same time, he said, Tehran is consulting only with Oman on establishing a temporary safe shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

“Our efforts are focused on determining, as quickly as possible and in consultation with Oman, a route that will be temporary and on the basis of which we can ensure the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz,” Baghai said.

As a reminder, on August 2, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. military would not launch new strikes against Iran if Washington and Tehran reach an agreement in the near future.

Tehran has threatened to strike the energy infrastructure of other countries if the U.S. carries out new attacks. Officials in Tehran stated that the response would be directed not only against U.S. interests but also against countries that support potential military action.

The United States and Israel are holding consultations on possibly increasing pressure on Iran, in particular by blocking its land borders. This scenario is being considered as part of broader measures to limit Tehran’s capabilities.
