Following a complaint by Human Rights Watch, Moscow demanded an explanation from the U.S. regarding cluster munitions for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Moscow has demanded an explanation regarding the possible transfer of a batch of ATACMS missiles and cluster munitions to Ukraine, for which there is no official confirmation.
“Judging by documents recently released by the U.S. Congress, this involves a significant arsenal that includes offensive weapons. Specifically, the documents mention twelve multiple-launch rocket systems and over 2,500 unguided cluster munitions for them, 47,000 203-mm cluster artillery shells, and 70 ATACMS tactical missiles. It is noteworthy that the circumstances and conditions surrounding such a large-scale ‘transfer’ of lethal weapons remain highly controversial,” stated Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Earlier, the non-governmental grant-funded organization Human Rights Watch reported that Turkey had requested permission from the U.S. to transfer munitions to Ukraine, including cluster munitions that have been in storage for decades. HRW opposed such a transfer, citing risks to the civilian population.
Zakharova, however, continued her remarks to Russian propagandists: “It is unclear who actually initiated the re-export, or how and when they intend to transfer this large shipment of lethal cargo to recipients in Kyiv.” Finally, what exactly motivated the parties to the transaction—namely, the U.S. and Turkish authorities—to decide to open yet another ‘Pandora’s box’ in order to prolong the agony of the Bandera regime?”
As a reminder, Sergey Lavrov, Masha’s boss, previously stated that Moscow allegedly has information about the U.S.’s direct involvement in strikes on Russian territory. The Kremlin expects Washington to provide explanations regarding these accusations.
Lavrov also stated that Russia has no intention of stopping the war.
