Taylor Swift's songs have been linked to an increase in the number of accidents in the U.S.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School have discovered a possible link between the release of popular music albums and an increase in the number of fatal accidents in the United States. According to their data, on the day of a release, the number of such accidents rises by approximately 15%.

For the study, the researchers analyzed the 10 albums with the most streams in their first 24 hours that were released between 2017 and 2022. Among them were releases by Taylor Swift, Drake, and Harry Styles.

The researchers compared accident statistics on the day of the album’s release with figures from the 10 days before and after the release. They suggest that one possible cause may be drivers being distracted by searching for a new album or songs on their smartphones or in their car’s multimedia system.

The most significant increase in accidents was observed among young drivers, men, people driving alone, and owners of cars with built-in multimedia systems.

This was reported by The Guardian.
