Gdańsk police have arrested a drug smuggler with a large quantity of cocaine in his stomach — RMF24

At Gdańsk Airport in Poland, law enforcement officers caught a passenger attempting to smuggle approximately 800 grams of cocaine inside his body.

This was reported by RMF24.

The man, who arrived on a flight from London, swallowed 88 capsules containing the narcotic substance, hoping to avoid thorough customs inspection.

The suspect was caught thanks to the professional work of a service dog during a routine baggage check.

The dog drew attention to the passenger’s bag, where customs officers later discovered the first capsule containing white powder. An analysis quickly confirmed that the substance found was high-quality cocaine.

The detainee’s suspicious and excessively nervous behavior prompted officers to conduct a thorough medical examination.

“Further examination using ultrasound revealed that the detainee had swallowed another 88 capsules containing drugs in an attempt to hide them from inspection,” law enforcement officials noted.

The total amount of seized drugs, including the first capsule found, amounted to 89 units.

According to preliminary estimates by experts, the market value of such a shipment of cocaine on the black market is approximately 300,000 zlotys. Converted to the European currency, this amount exceeds €70,000.

Law enforcement officials emphasize the extreme danger of this method of transport to the courier’s own life.

The rupture of even a single such capsule inside the body would lead to instant death due to a critical overdose. Currently, the suspect is in custody awaiting further investigative proceedings.

According to a local court ruling, the suspect was arrested for a period of three months without the right to bail.

Under current Polish law, the man faces severe punishment for organizing the large-scale smuggling of narcotics.

The maximum prison sentence for such a crime can be up to 20 years.
