Poland will involve a Ukrainian expert in the investigation into the Russian missile crash
Poland is continuing its investigation into the crash of a Russian X-101 cruise missile in the Lublin Voivodeship. A Ukrainian expert will be brought in to examine the wreckage, which is scheduled for July 31.
The day before, prosecutors completed their investigation at the missile crash site in the village of Tarnava-Kolonia, approximately 95 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. During a survey of the area, members of Poland’s Territorial Defense Forces discovered numerous pieces of the missile, including parts of its engine.
Marcin Kozak, a spokesperson for the Lublin Prosecutor’s Office, reported that the crater formed by the rocket’s impact has already been filled in, and the landowner can once again use the property. According to him, the crater was about 10 meters in diameter and about five meters deep.
On Friday, the recovered debris will be examined at the Military Police headquarters. A Ukrainian specialist will join the investigation to help Polish authorities identify the rocket fragments found.
Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk confirmed the day before that it was indeed a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile that fell on Polish territory.
Following the incident, NATO stated that it is maintaining close contact with Polish authorities. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga also held a telephone conversation with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and assured Poland of Ukraine’s full solidarity.
