The U.S. ambassador was outraged by the Polish Sejm speaker's remarks about Trump
U.S. Ambassador to Poland Thomas Rose condemned Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Czastowy for his critical remarks about Donald Trump.
RMF24 reported this, noting that the conflict stemmed from a statement the politician made to the Financial Times, in which he called the American president a “leader of chaos.”
The American diplomat called the speaker’s rhetoric a threat and accused him of intentionally damaging bilateral relations between the countries. According to Rose, such insults directed at the U.S. leader only weaken Poland itself on the international stage.
This is not the first instance of public confrontation between the officials: in February, Rose announced the suspension of contacts with Czajka after the latter refused to support Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. The ambassador’s decision to ignore the Sejm speaker had previously drawn criticism from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
