The U.S. ambassador tried to reconcile Meloni and Trump

U.S. Ambassador to Italy Tilman Fertitta stated that the public disagreements between U.S. President Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have not affected the strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to the diplomat, disagreements between political leaders are normal and do not reflect the state of bilateral relations between the countries.

Fertitta emphasized that U.S.-Italy cooperation in the fields of security and defense remains unchanged, and both countries continue to be important allies within NATO.

The ambassador also announced that Washington and Rome plan to sign an agreement on strategic mineral resources titled “Pax Silica” in the coming weeks. The signing of the document had previously been postponed due to political disagreements.

In addition, Fertitta spoke positively about Giorgia Meloni’s role in the European Union and NATO, expressing confidence in her continued political support among Italians.
