The U.S. Ambassador to the EU denied that Trump and Vance interfered in the Hungarian elections
U.S. Ambassador to the EU Andrew Puzder stated that President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance are not interfering in the Hungarian elections, despite their open support for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
The diplomat made this remark in an interview.
According to him, American leaders do indeed make no secret of their sympathy for Orbán, but this does not constitute interference in the electoral process.
“I do not believe that the actions of the vice president or the president constituted interference in the Hungarian elections,” Puzder emphasized.
He also commented on Vance’s visit to Budapest, during which Vance criticized Brussels’ policy toward Hungary.
According to the ambassador, there was no coercion or economic pressure in the actions of U.S. officials that could indicate an attempt to influence the election results.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s trip to Hungary on the eve of the parliamentary elections.
